Tim Mandriva yang telah sukses dengan versi Corporate Server 4, mengembangkan dan menggabungkan beberapa fungsi baru :

·        Mandriva Directory Server (MDS) is totally integrated in MES 5. MDS enables some administrative work to be delegated to colleagues and offers users a directory of unique passwords independent of the platform being used. In addition, MDS incorporated a well-stocked API which enables the easy development of new modules and automates the everyday admin tasks;

·        Developed to reduce boot-up time, the server's installation wizard enables Open Source bricks pre-configured by Mandriva for optimal efficiency to be quickly installed;

·        MES 5 was designed to be modular and customised and can be easily used for the configuration of specialised servers. The Administrator can, for instance, configure an E-mail Server, or File and Print Server or a Directory Server. And to make the job even easier, it takes less than 15 minutes to install;

·        On top of reducing operating costs and cutting down on time, MES5 limits hardware investment and reduces energy costs through its integrated virtualisation tools XEN and KVM. These virtualisation bricks enable MES 5 to envisage a real policy of server coordination.
